While the daily number of newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases here is declining, the death toll from the virus continues to rise. The Texas Department of State Health Services website is now reporting that 46 Dawson County residents have now died during the COVID-19 pandemic. That represents two more deaths than the state was reporting last Friday. The COVID death toll here being reported by the South Plains Public Health District (SPPHD) is now at 20, also an increase of two from late last week.
