Members of the Dawson County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of a water truck and handled a variety of other business during their regular meeting Tuesday.
Avoiding the need to go through the bidding process because the price wound up less than $50,000, the court authorized purchasing a used Caterpillar water truck from Warren Cat of Midland at a cost of $48,600.
That purchase was recommended by county road supervisor Stanley Gass, who had inspected the truck and reported it is in good condition.
“It looks really new,” he said of the truck, a 2013 model with about 33,000 miles on it.
