The recent surge in COVID-19 cases here doesn’t seem to be slowing any.
In fact, it is getting worse.
More than one-fourth of all COVID-19 cases confirmed here since the virus arrived in late March are now considered active case according to information on the South Plains Public Health District (SPPHD) website on Friday.
With total COVID cases here now reported at 207, the health district was reporting 55 individuals with active cases of the virus in Dawson County.
Ten new cases were reported on Thursday, and seven more on Friday.
The total case count here has jumped by 27 in just the past week.
