SNYDER– Scurry County Judge Dan Hicks issued a disaster declaration last week for the county after the previous week’s winter storms.
The declaration was for seven days, and will cover the storm event Feb. 12-19.
In a letter to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Hicks said 7,000 homes in Scurry County had been without electricity and/or water and 2,500 families will be in need of assistance, including temporary housing.
He said that 200 businesses sustained uninsured losses and, because public utilities were impacted, 3,000 homes and businesses were without water and/or electricity.
