SNYDER– Scurry County Judge Dan Hicks issued a disaster declaration last week for the county after the previous week’s winter storms. The declaration was for seven days, and will cover the storm event Feb. 12-19. In a letter to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Hicks said 7,000 homes in Scurry County had been without electricity and/or water and 2,500 families will be in need of assistance, including temporary housing.
