Continuing to seek options for housing an overflow population of county jail inmates, county officials on Tuesday approved yet another contract to house local prisoners elsewhere.The latest contract, approved by the Dawson County Commissioners Court on at the recommendation of Sheriff Matt Hogg, will allow up to six inmates at a time to be housed in the Martin County Jail at Stanton.“The (Martin County) sheriff said they had six beds they weren’t using,” Hogg told the commissioners court.Dawson County will pay $55 per day for each prisoner housed in the Martin County lockup.“They’re pretty close, and they’re handy,” County Judge ...
