Dawson County’s road maintenance crews are getting a new tractor and shredder to help control weed growth in the right-of-way along county roads.
Members of the Dawson County Commissioners Court this past Tuesday approved the purchase of a new John Deere tractor and shredder at a cost of $97,772.
That price includes the trade-in of a tractor and shredder which the county had been using for mowing right-of-ways.
“The shredder is just tore all to pieces, and the tractor is too small to handle the shredder anyway,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Nicky Goode said about the equipment the county has been using.
