Dawson County commissioners Tuesday approved several items pertaining to the 2023-2024 forfeiture funds in the sheriff’s department.The fund is credited to the sheriff’s office when investigators seize offenders’ vehicles, money or other property used in the commission of criminal activities. The district attorney’s (DA) office handles the seized property. After the court system declares the property forfeited, the sheriff’s office receives a percentage of the forfeited property with the remainder staying the DA’s office, which handles the cases.
