Dawson County commissioners Tuesday gave their consent to County Treasurer Terri Stahl to apply for a federal grant of up to $90,000.The grant will help pay for a new software system allowing staff to remotely open doors and communicate with fellow staff members working in other areas of the county jail. The current remote system isn’t working properly. When a staff member wants to open a door, the control center can do that at a touch of a button. Right now, jailers have to utilize their key cards to open certain doors.“Basically, everything still works, it’s just the remote isn’t working,”
