Dawson County will use federal funds obtained through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to pay to digitize old records in the county tax assessor/collector’s office.Members of the commissioners court approved the action during their regular meeting Tuesday afternoon.County Treasurer Terri Stahl said digitizing the old records is a necessity because of the deteriorating condition of those records.“They’re starting to disintegrate,” Stahl told the commissioners court about the old records. “By rule we have to do this.”The cost of the project, starting with the oldest records, will cost about $85,000.“They will digitize everything and they will store the old books ...
