After some recalculations it appears the Dawson County tax rate could be going up even more than previously planned – but with a bigger decrease in expected revenue.
That basically was the take-away from a lengthy discussion about tax calculations and expected collections during the Commissioners Court’s regular meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Although a formal vote on a tax rate won’t happen until next week, members of the commissioners court recommended County Auditor Rhonda Martin adjust the county’s proposed budget based on revenue from a proposed tax rate of 97.0920 cents per $100 valuation.
