Dawson County’s total COVID-19 case count continues to climb but local authorities also continue to emphasize those with the virus represent only a tiny fraction of the overall population.
As of Friday afternoon, Lamesa Mayor Josh Stevens said during the weekly COVID-19 update from City Hall, Dawson County has had a total of 26 confirmed cases of the virus.
Of those, nine remain active. All of those individuals are quarantining at home and none are hospitalized, Stevens said.
“We’ve had 16 total recoveries,” he said. The first person diagnosed with the virus here later died in a Lubbock hospital.
