Lamesa City Council has a new mayor pro-tem. After three of their own took the oath of office Tuesday, the council then decided who got to serve a year in the second highest office on the council.
The council selected Fred Vera for the job. Vera took over the council’s District 2 seat after former office holder Marie Briseno did not seek re-election. Briseno served on the council for more than two decades.
