What Lamesa City Council members did do Tuesday was postpone any action on giving a tax abatement to Vista Park, a housing development planned in the northwest part of the city. They plan to revisit the idea at next Tuesday’s meeting.
The tax abatement would result in the development forgoing paying city property taxes for an agreed tim period. Developer Ron Smith said the plan qualifies for up to $7 million in tax abatements covering a five-year period.
