Tractor Supply, the largest and most recent company to move into town five months ago, got the tax abatement it wanted from the city Tuesday night.
City council members granted a 60 percent tax abatement from the city’s property taxes over the course of three years. The abatement saves the company about $8,000.
“Part of the incentive (of the company moving into town) was the tax abatement,” said Lamesa Economic Development Corp. executive director Lee Peterson. “They do expect this tax abatement. They’ve done much better than they expected.”
