Two dilapidated buildings targeted for possible demolition were given a 180-day reprieve by the Lamesa City Council on Tuesday.
The action came after caretakers for each of the buildings asked for time to make repairs to the structures.
While supporting the efforts to improve the conditions of the buildings, Mayor Josh Stevens also emphasized the improvements need to be made in the designated time period.
“One of the big issues we face (as a council) is trying to clean up properties,” Stevens said during Tuesday’s regular council session.
