After canvassing the votes from the May 6 municipal election Tuesday night, Lamesa City Council members selected a new mayor pro-tem.They chose council member Danny Jacobs to the position. The mayor pro-tem takes over the council meeting in the mayor’s absence.Gloria Rodriguez, who won her re-election bid for the council’s District 3 seat, served as mayor pro-tem this past year.The mayor pro-tem holds that title for one year.In the only challenged city council race on the ballot, Rodriguez defeated Robin Wiley, 41-31, in the recent election.Only 72 out of 873 registered voters in District 3 participated in the election.Rodriguez was ...
