City council members Tuesday reviewed possible solutions to the growing stray dog problem which included requiring registration, setting impound fees and converting a building into an animal shelter.The council took no vote on any of the options.Lamesa Police Chief Josh Peterson suggested improving the current city’s animal regulations and renovating or building a new facility to put them in once they’re caught by the animal control officer.The police department oversees the animal shelter and the animal control officer.Peterson proposed updating and expanding the city’s current rules pertaining to dogs, wild animals and farm animals.One of the proposed rules would require ...
