Those interested in attending correctional officer training for a job at the Preston Smith Unit can go online at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s (TDCJ) website at tdcj.texas.gov.The next training academy session starts Aug. 1 at the TDCJ’s Smith Unit just outside Lamesa.Both full-time and parttime positions are available at the unit.
