The article in the Lamesa Press-Reporter this past Wednesday about the Lamesa school board members’ action on the school superintendent’s job evaluation and contract contained an error. The article stated board members voted 6-0 to approved a pay raise for Superintendent Jim Knight. That is not correct. Board members unanimously voted on the job evaluation, but voted 6-1 in extending Knight’s contract for another year. Board member Kelli Merritt cast the only dissenting vote against the contract; not a pay raise. The pay raise is part of the contract. ...
