Dawson County Hospital District (DCHD) Vice-Chairman Joe Cope broke the tie vote Thursday morning when he cast his ballot for himself to serve as the board’s top officeholder. The board elects three officerholders among five elected members after every DCHD election. The previous board chairperson or president, Kim Bairrington, lost her re-election bid in the May 1 election. Cope, previously the board vice president, took over as the presiding officer last month.
