Members of the Dawson County Commissioners on Monday established a new expense line in their budget and put one dollar in it.
That new budget line is for lobbying expenses and apparently is now mandated by the state to be included in county budgets.
County Judge Foy O’Brien said he has not been contacted by state officials but other county judges in the area have had inquiries to be sure the lobbying line is in their county budget.
“We don’t ever have any funds that we lobby with,” O’Brien said.
