Census estimates released Thursday show the City of Lamesa’s population following the same downward trend as the Dawson County figures announced earlier this year.The U.S. Census Bureau’s annual population and housing unit estimates show Lamesa with a population of 8,425 as of July of 2022.That is a drop from an estimate of 8,627 people living here in 2021 and a figure of 8,682 computed by U.S. Census officials for July of 2020.Similarly, the county-bycounty Census estimates released in late March showed Dawson County’s population dropping from 12,473 in July of 2020 to 12,412 in 2021 and 12,130 last year.The annual ...
