The City of Lamesa and two economic development boards are finding themselves in the same situation that faced Dawson County weeks ago.They have to return more than $680,000 in overpayments of sales taxes back to the state.The city’s portion is $455,732 while the Lamesa Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) and Lamesa Economic Alliance Project’s (LEAP) portion amounts to $224,000.Since the ecomomic development boards are a subordinate organization under the city, it’s the city that will have to cut a check to the state.
