Lamesa’s entrance ways are getting a new look. City council members learned Tuesday that plans to plant trees along major thoroughfares are finally getting into the ground. “We’ve been working on this since May or June,” said Scott Scarborough, landscape architect with Tom’s Tree Place in Lubbock. The five-year plan to plant trees at the city’s entrances is being done in phases. The first phase focuses on the north side of N. 22nd Street from Woody Road west to Lynn Ave, along N. Highway 87 from Chicago Drive to the Pioneer Square shopping center, and along South Highway 87. Future phases include plantings along Hwy.
