Lamesa City Council members gave initial approval Thursday to a $13 million budget for the 2021- 2022 fiscal year but lowered the tax rate they are proposing to fund that budget.
Although a public hearing was scheduled on a proposal to adopt a new property tax rate of 86.3236 per $100 value – a four-cent increase from the current rate – council members on Thursday indicated they would prefer dropping the proposed new rate to 85.3236 cents
