Lamesa City Council members are conducting two regular meetings at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at 601 South First Street to consider the 2020-2021 budget and tax rate, a resolution declaring properties near downtown as slums, establishing a reinvestment zone and holding public hearings on several vacant properties declared nuisances set for removal or demolition.
At the council’s Tuesday meeting, members will also discuss submitting a $500,000 application to the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program to revitalize the downtown area with sidewalks, lighting and Americans with Disability Act features. The city could contribute $75,000 to the cause.
