City council members approved new boundaries for the city’s six single-member voting districts during their regular meeting Tuesday evening.The council, along with other governmental entities with elected office holders, are required by federal law to re-draw their voting boundaries after the conclusion of a U.S. Census each decade. The objective is to ensure that each voting area contains equal population numbers.Last year’s national head count saw Lamesa’s population drop by over 700 people in the course of a decade.
