The annual seal coating project for city streets may have to be suspended for this year because of a large turnover in employees.
“We have a lot of new employees and they still need to be trained on the seal coat equipment,” Robert Ramirez, Public Works Director, told the Lamesa City Council on Tuesday evening.
City Manager Shawna D. Burkhart told council members the city currently has five vacancies: one communications officer for the police department; one meter reader for the water department; two heavy equipment operators for the city landfill; and one heavy equipment operator for the street sweeper.
