More than 18 months ago Lamesa City Council member Fred Vera brought up a possible solution to the stray dog problem, suggesting converting a vacant maintenance building into an expanded animal shelter.His idea saw a little light Tuesday when City Manager Joe Hines updated the council on an investigation into the possibility of utilizing another building to temporarily house unwanted, stray or abandoned dogs.The city already has an animal shelter, but it is too small to keep up with the numerous stays.
