In a strange turn of events Tuesday, two Lamesa City Council members serving on the Lamesa Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) board did a back flip and helped vote down the sale of downtown property to a businessman interested in opening an Italian restaurant. Council member Bobby Gonzales and Mayor Pro-Tem Dore Rodriguez had both approved selling the property at 118 Austin Ave. to Cody Sandlin for $5,000 when it went before the LEDC last month.
