The resurgence of COVID-19 here during the past few weeks has prompted a change in plans for the annual back-to-school giveaway hosted by Lamesa’s churches. Instead of returning to its tradition of being an indoor event, the giveaway will again be a drive-thru operation like it was last year, according to Paula Simco, one of the organizers. “We didn’t want people not coming because they were afraid to come inside,” Simco said Tuesday about the reason for the change.
