Seventy-five members of the Lamesa Boys and Girls Club participated in the club’s Fishing Days held July 15 and 16 at the lake just behind the club.
U.S. Silica helped the youngsters land some fishing fun by providing tackle boxes, fishing equipment, and volunteers for the event.
The volunteers were on hand to help children bait hooks and reel in catches, but getting the fish to bite was entirely up to the kids.
“This is about getting out to enjoy the outdoors, and rediscovering nature,” said Rex Tucker, interim plant manager for U.S. Silica’s sand mining operation west of Lamesa.
