Lamesa public school employees will continue to receive most of the current paid sick leave benefits they receive under federal coronavirus relief legislation even if that program is not extended past its scheduled expiration at the end of December.
Lamesa school board members agreed during their regular meeting Tuesday to locally continue paying those benefits under three of the six categories provided by the federal legislation.
Liz Poage, the school’s chief financial officer, said the three categories that are being excluded under the local extension have hardly been used by local school employees.
