Monday’s holiday celebrating civil rights activist Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., (MLK) will close all federal offices and banks here, along with schools in two school districts, for the day. The federal holiday is observed each year on the third Monday in January, close to King’s Jan. 15 birth date. There will be no mail deliveries from the U.S. Postal Service Monday. Delivery will resume Tuesday. The Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce office is also closed for MLK Day. Lamesa and Dawson school districts, along with Howard College, are not holding classes.
