Nineteen members of the graduating class at Sands High School in Ackerly are scheduled to receive their diplomas this coming Friday in the first graduation ceremony for schools in Lamesa and the surrounding area. Kyle Arellano is this year’s Sands High School class valedictorian. Malachi Walker is the salutatorian. The graduation ceremony will be held in the school auditorium beginning at 8 p.m. Friday. Soon-to-be graduating seniors will walk into the auditorium for a morning awards ceremony Friday while escorting a kindergartner.
