Local facility could see new life
BROWNFIELD – The company that contracted to operate the city-owned Intermediate Sanction Facility (ISF) until its closure 18 months ago is interested in re-opening the mothballed facility with a different mandate from the state’s justice system.
Management Training Corporation (MTC) held a series of public meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday at City Hall to gauge public interest in a proposal to house sex offenders.
State officials are seeking 750 institutional beds for civilly committed sex offenders, of which 275 could be located here as soon as Sept. 1, 2019.
