National Weather Service rep confirms tornado hit county
ANDREWS – A National Weather Service representative visited Andrews County on Thursday to perform a damage assessment from last Tuesday night’s storm. The damage, estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, occurred mostly over a stretch several miles east of the Andrews in the vicinity of State Highway 176. Pat Vesper of the NWS Midland office used the assessment to determine that an actual tornado touched down, rather than the damage being caused by a downburst or straight-line winds.
