ANDREWS- A large surplus from last year’s county budget will go to the youth recreation center project following county commissioners’ action Tuesday.Commissioners decided what to do with the $4.6 million in excess funds during the meeting. They approved moving $4 million to the capital improvement fund for the rec center project and $600,000 to the employee benefit fund to “stave off possible increases in healthcare costs,” according to county officials.Through the move, the capital improvement project fund now contains around $11 million, they added.
