For the third time in just two weeks, Lamesa has lost a resident in an automobile accident.The latest happened early Thursday morning on a stretch of Hwy. 87 south of Lamesa that had water over it, apparently from rainfall earlier in the night.Nicholas “Nick” Gilchrest, age 34, was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Larry Duyck at the scene of the single-vehicle crash.The accident occurred at 5:48 a.m. about 7.4 miles south of Lamesa, according to information provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).Preliminary information released by the DPS Friday morning stated Gilchrest was driving a 2008 ...
