The annual 4th of July Roping, which traditionally had been held at the Lamesa Rodeo Grounds for the last 23 years, is moving this year to the ACE (Andrews County Expo) indoor arena at Andrews.
“All of my helpers last year kept talking about it being so hot that we decided to move the roping to the indoor arena this year,” Cody King, president of the Lamesa Rodeo Association, said this past week.
“We’re calling it the ‘Lamesa Beat the Heat’ roping.”
