Local residents are being cautioned by law enforcement that there is a telephone scam being conducted where the caller claims to be with the Dawson County Sheriff Office.
An individual reportedly is calling random residents and claiming to be Chief Deputy Josh Peterson.
“This individual is telling people they have been summoned to court or they did not show up to court and are going to have a warrant issued for their arrest,” Sheriff Matt Hogg said. “The subject is then stating the individuals have to send a certain amount of money to stop the warrant from being issued for their arrest.”
