Eight out of the 11 gins operating in the Lamesa area have finished processing cotton for the year, while the remaining few expect to finish up in the coming weeks. Many gins have reported processing considerably less cotton this year and some received lower quality cotton than usual. Ralph Cummings, the Area Director of the Cotton Classing Office in Lamesa, said the office received about half as much cotton as usual this year.
