Before COVID-19 reared its ugly head, the Dawson County Senior Citizens’ Center was filled with noise from elderly residents who came for the daily lunches.
After the meal, they usually filled up six tables for games of cards. Now the center is lucky if there’s one table of seniors visiting each other over lunch.
The center closed its doors from March 2020 until April 1 of this year in response to the pandemic. The center now is open from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
