A retirement reception was held for Janie Rios on Thursday afternoon at the West Texas Opportunities building.
Rios has worked at West Texas Opportunities for 30 years and her last day was on Aug. 31.
She started out as a volunteer for Head Start for three years until she was finally asked if she wanted to be a day care provider.
On Sept. 1, 1989 she became a full-time employee with the day care. Two years later she became the literacy coordinator for the Head Start.
After one year Rios left that position to start working as case manager for West Texas Opportunities.
