Eleven-year-old Alana Renfro, who attends school at Klondike ISD, struggles with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) in her day to day life.
In July of 2016, Alana sprained her right ankle while dancing in the living room. After weeks of x-rays, MRIs, and therapy, she was diagnosed with CRPS.
The disease causes constant extreme pain and can spread to other parts of the body. On the McGill Pain Index, it is ranked as the most painful form of chronic pain that exists today.
CRPS is a progressive disease that affects the autonomic nervous system and, more specifically, the Sympathetic Nervous System.
