The Lamesa school district was not able to provide meals for the weekend when they distributed food for children on Friday, according to Superintendent Jim Knight.
He said Thursday that the Texas Department of Agriculture, which oversees the National School Lunch Program in Texas, has indicated the school may not feed students on weekends.
With students no longer in the classroom during the COVID-19 situation, the Lamesa school system began curbside delivery of meals to children on March 25.
The school provides a lunch and breakfast on a drive-up basis from the cafeterias at South Elementary, North Elementary and Middle School.
