Families preparing for their children to return to school during the next few weeks can find some assistance next weekend at the annual back-to-school giveaway conducted by various churches in Lamesa. The event has been scheduled for 8 a.m. until 12 noon on Aug. 7 at Second Baptist Church. Paula Simco, who helps coordinate the giveaway, said the event normally provides assistance to about 450 children. “It’s open to students from all the schools in Dawson County,” Simco said.
