Don and Martha Stewart celebrated 70 years of marriage on Nov. 9 at their home in Lamesa. They were surrounded with a gathering of their three children and spouses, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The celebration included food, fellowship and reminiscing. Don and Martha were married on Nov. 2, 1949 in Prescott, Ariz. Don served in the Navy during World War II. Upon marrying they moved to Dawson County and set up housekeeping on the Stewart ranch, where they began farming cotton and raising cattle and sheep.
