SNYDER – Snyder’s Planning and Zoning Commission will recommend to the Snyder City Council that the former Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) property and building, currently zoned as a residential parcel, be changed to a C-2 commercial zone to accommodate an event center planned by the property’s new owners, Eduardo Murillo and Nayely Cabrera.

BROWNFIELD – At the city council’s May 6 meeting, Brownfield Water Supervisor James Nix spoke to the council about voluntarily enacting water conservation measures. He asked the council to enter state one voluntarily, and by doing this the city can ask the residents to watch their water consumption.
SLATON – The Slaton Railroad Heritage Association conducted a ribbon cutting dedicating the interior restoration of the ATSF 191 caboose May 7 at the Harvey House.
TAHOKA – The community’s first ever Cinco de Mayo festival was held May 8, and even organizers deemed it a huge success, with good attendance and fun entertainment for all ages during the six-hour event. The fun started at 4 p.m. and continued until 10 p.m.
