I am in New York City right now, but my heart is with many of the folks in Lamesa, my hometown. I am married to a physician assistant who works an emergency room in Manhattan. He saw a number of COVID-19 patients last night who he didn’t expect to live through today. He has worked through episodes of unspeakable violence - gunshot wounds, stabbing, sexual assault. He is one of the toughest, most fearless people I know when it comes to all this blood and guts. I’ve never seen him scared to go to work until this past week.
